Edward Whitehouse

Edward Whitehouse has advised on pension reforms in many countries, including Canada, Cape Verde, Cyprus, Egypt, Hungary, Iran, Ireland, Lebanon, Mauritius, Morocco, Pakistan, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and Tunisia.

He has worked extensively with the World Bank.  He wrote the report, Pensions Panorama: Retirement-Income Systems in 53 countries and contributed to the Bank’s volumes on notional defined-contribution pensions, retirement-income provision in the Middle East and North Africa and on social pensions.

Edward was previously Head of Pension Policy Analysis in the Social Policy Division of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, acting as lead author of the OECD’s flagship report on retirement-income systems, Pensions at a Glance.  Both this report and Pensions Panorama are based on the Apex models (Analysis of pension entitlements across countries) which Edward developed.

He has also been a leader writer for the Financial Times, a researcher at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London and taught at University College, London and Oxford University.  He has an M.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Jesus College, Oxford.
